Amherst College Social Environment Part (2)
The heavy academic rigor channels the social life of the student body, composed Primarily of high school valedictorians. Comfortable in the world of ideas, these bright and self-directed students form a vibrant and diverse community of leaders. Bright, underprivileged students are well represented at Amherst.
Amherst students are comfortable socializing across varied social and economic backgrounds as well as addressing multi-cultural issues. This shapes their perspectives as they chart their individual course of liberal studies.
Amherst students can be super-studious and inense, even overly-invested in their tasks, yet always efficient enough to be able to have time to analyze the broad issues facing the world’s future. They present out-standing academic qualifications and individual accomplishments.
