CLASS Annual Event starts on May4th
Symposium (May 4-6) on the Teaching of English in DRC, 50 years after the political independence. In fact the 5th edition of CLASS English day coincides with the 50th anniversary of DRC sovereignty. The event needs deep analysis of the progress realized since then.
The symposium aims at a deep analysis of the English Language class curriculum in order to make suggestions of changes making the teaching of English the teaching of language rather than the teaching of a subject. Considering the globalized world, the English language curriculum needs to be updated and effective.

English Language Teaching
Issues integrated in the English Language teaching:
Fourth Annual English Day
English day is an annual evaluation activity for both Teachers and learners in that it allows us to see how the learners understood the materials from their teachers. It helps CLASS staff and parterners on how the teachers have implemented the materials they learned in our trainning sessions. After trainning the teachers on HIV, you could see the result on the learners answers to oral questions and performences.
This 4th edition was organized in Studio Maman ANGEBI of the RTNC (the nationalTV and radio studio).
Nine schools took place:
All schools were excellent that the jury had problems to decide. The first three schools won the prizes in the order cited above. All participants were awarded a CD, Pen, note book and a poster by the American cultural center. It was exiting to hear those guys answering and speaking English . The representative of the minister of High and elemtary education expressed his joy in his speech (see photo gallery).
English Teaching Forum
English teachers may want to look at the English Teaching FORUM site for issues of their quarterly journal. The English Teaching FORUM is published by the U.S. Department of State for teachers of English as a foreign or second language.
